DescriptionGENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: - Summarize the
nature and level of work performed. Please note that this section

structure.The MGH Center for Cancer Research (CCR) is looking to
hire a highly motivated and experienced Senior Research Laboratory
Manager under the direction of multiple Principal Investigators and
the CCR Research Program Manager, the CCR Senior Research
Laboratory Manager will provide operational and administrative
management support to multiple research laboratories and work to
resolve problems related to safety, supplies, and equipment by
contacting and interacting with appropriate hospital personnel and
vendors. The CCR Senior Research Laboratory Manager will also serve
as Safety Officer and will be responsible for ensuring compliance
with MGH policies, and training staff in proper laboratory
procedures.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In order of
importance, list essential areas of responsibility, major job
duties, special projects and key objectives for this position.
These items should be evaluated throughout the year and included in
the written annual evaluation. This section should be completed as

ResponsibilitiesEvaluate vendor discounts and process orders for
laboratory members through MGB's procurement platform.Maintain
database for laboratory orders.Receive, carefully inspect, and
verify all laboratory deliveries.Communicate with vendors to track
ordersCreate orders for shared lab and office supplies and
renew/initiate standing orders.Maintain inventory of basic
laboratory stock ensuring that adequate supplies are always
available.Maintain inventory of laboratory equipment.Renew/initiate
equipment service contracts. Serve as liaison between laboratory
staff and service vendors for problems with equipment.Ensure that
equipment is maintained in good working order; work with the
Facility Manager to assess and review repair estimates and
preventative maintenance options. Coordinate annual certification
of biosafety cabinets. Coordinate cleaning and calibration of all
balances and microscopes annually. Coordinate service for
lab-specific equipment.Assist the Equipment/Compliance Specialist
in the validation of equipment, hardware, and software.Orient new
laboratory staff to lab policies and procedures and serves as a
resource for questions.Train incoming personnel in laboratory
operations and assist them with enrolling in safety training
programsEnsure that all laboratory staff complete mandatory
training for animal use and human subject use as neededIdentify,
interpret, and disseminate information on internal, federal, and
sponsor regulatory guidelines and policies.Prepare laboratories for
internal, local, State, and federal regulatory agency inspections.
Prepare Inspection Responses if there are any findings.Assist
Principal Investigator with completing required forms for animal
and human subject protocols. Responsible for identifying and
assisting in resolving issues regarding animal/human protocols.
Maintains complete files of all animal and human protocol
applications, approvals, and correspondence.Assist lab members in
maintaining animal care protocols and coordinate the response to
any inspections or requests for changes in animal care
protocols.Assist with the renewal of the Radiation use permit.
Complete all necessary paperwork for radioactivity permits,
distribute badges, and maintain records of radiation and isotope
use and disposal.Monitor biohazard material use and disposal.Serve
as primary resource and point of contact for principal
investigators, departmental staff, manager, and purchasing
agent.Serve as laboratory contact for Buildings and
Grounds.Laboratory Safety ResponsibilitiesProvide safety
orientation for all new laboratory employees, including: fire,
chemical, and biological safety.Plan and train for laboratory
emergencies.Maintain Chemical inventory.Maintain an up-to-date file
of MSDS, for all hazardous chemicals.Attend regular safety
meetings.Coordinate safety training sessions with appropriate
departments, such as the Safety Office, Radiation Safety Office,
and the office of Infection Control. Ensure that all laboratory
staff completes mandatory training for fire safety, biohazard
safety, and radiation safety annually as needed.Implement and
monitor safety programs in compliance with CDC, NIH, FDA, OSHA,
EPA, DPH, NRC, JCAHO, and MGH.Maintain records of individual
employee training.Keep signage up to date.Ensure that there is
adequate and appropriate personal protective equipment
available.Respond to Safety Office suggestions for improving
workplace safety.Provide manuals of Chemical Hygiene Plan,
Radiation safety plan, and OSHA Bloodborne pathogen and Exposure
