Job Description: Position Summary: The Geriatrician functions as
the attending physician for geriatric (and other) patients within
one or more clinical venues of Hebrew Rehabilitation Center (HRC).
Works closely with other members of the clinical care team
including specialty consultants, nurse practitioners, therapists,
nursing staff and other care providers. This position may also
involve teaching responsibilities in connection with the Harvard
Medical School Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine, for which HRC is a
primary clinical teaching site. Core Competencies: Ability to work

Position Responsibilities: Perform medical examinations,
evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment to patients in
long term chronic care and post-acute care / skilled nursing
facility settings. Order diagnostic tests, pharmaceuticals, other
medications, treatment regimens and interventions as appropriate to
assessed medical conditions. Knowledge of relevant drugs and
non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe
dosages and instruct patients in correct usage. Refers patients to
specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate
Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of clinical
team members and support staff as required Coordinates with members
of post-acute multidisciplinary team to help meet each patient’s
individual needs Participate in overnight, weekend and holiday call
as appropriate for area of practice Documents each patient
encounter in a timely manner (typically the same day) using the
appropriate electronic medical record system Signs/completes
documentation in a timely manner to allow for submission of charges
by off-site billing company Follows established department
policies, procedures and objectives, continuous quality improvement
objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control
standards and quality measures Successfully meets productivity
benchmarks as established by Department of Medicine Administration
Participates in specified health promotion, education and/or
preventative programs throughout HRC as appropriate Trains and
supervises medical students, residents and fellows engaged in
specialty activities and procedures, as appropriate Participate in
Medical staff quality improvement and review activities
Participates in weekly Medical Staff Meetings Performs
miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned Qualifications:
Education: Awarded degree of MD or DO with ABIM recognized internal
medicine or family practice residency (3 years minimum). Successful
completion of ACGME accredited geriatric medicine fellowship
program preferred License: Valid and unrestricted Massachusetts
Medical License. Certification: American Board Certification in
Internal Medicine or Family Medicine currently valid or renewed (if
needed) prior to expiration. ABIM added certification in geriatric
medicine preferred. Federal DEA Certification. CPR, BLS, ACLS as
indicated by specific practice location. Experience: Experience,
gained in training and/or in practice, caring for seniors in long
term care and / or Skilled Nursing Facility, community or home
settings. Experience delivering effective medical care within an
inpatient environment Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or
infection control standards Knowledge of community medical
diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise
Experience working both independently and in a team environment
Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the
delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of
expertise Ability to supervise, advise and train clinical
professionals and/or students in area of expertise Remote Type
Salary Range: $197,901.00 - $279,389.00
