Job Description:
Position Summary/ Department Summary: The Neonatal Intensive
Care Unit (NICU), in the Division of Newborn Medicine, is a Level
III/IV, 30-bed referral center for critically ill infants requiring
complex medical and surgical care. Highly specialized physicians,
nurses, and support staff collaborate in the care of critically ill
infants and their families. A team from multiple specialties within
the hospital provides advanced therapies and family centered care
for infants from around the region and the world. We work closely
with the Fetal Care and Surgery Center to coordinate both prenatal
consultation and postnatal intensive care for infants with a wide
range of prenatally diagnosed conditions. Neonatology attendings,
fellows, pediatric surgical residents, and either neonatal nurse
practitioners or pediatrician hospitalists are available on the
unit 24 hours a day. Key Responsibilities: - Providing care to
critically ill medical and surgical neonates and infants with
various conditions including (but not limited to) complications of
prematurity, respiratory distress, pulmonary hypertension, hypoxic
ischemic encephalopathy, long gap esophageal atresia,
tracheoesophageal fistula, gastroschisis, omphalocele, necrotizing
enterocolitis, congenital heart disease and other congenital
anomalies. - Working collaboratively to provide family-centered
care as a member of a multidisciplinary team that provides expert
neonatal care. - 36 hours/week, rotating days/nights and every
third weekend. Minimum Qualifications Education: BSN required
Experience: - 1 year of acute care pediatric, ICU or ED RN
experience required. - NICU or PICU experience strongly preferred.
Licensure/ Certifications: - Massachusetts RN Licensure Sign On
Bonus: - Position is currently offering a 10K Sign On Bonus (not
eligible for internal candidates and not eligible for former BCH
employees who worked here in the past 2 years). The posted pay
range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation
for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided
depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a
variety of other job-related factors. Base pay is one part of a
