Job Description: I. Position Summary: Demonstrate a strong commitment to the philosophy and goals of the mission of Hebrew SeniorLife and recognize resident/patient dignity and choice in aspects of daily life. Work with team to meet all needs of the resident. Strive to make every encounter with a resident/patient into positive and meaningful experience and opportunity. Repair, adjust, maintain and replace the entire heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems as needed. Reports to Chief Engineer or Director of Facilities. Collaborate with outside utilities on heating, A/C and ventilation. II. Position Accountabilities: Core Functions: Respond to emergency calls Work from telephone maintenance requests and verbal and written work orders Perform jobs assigned by the Chief Engineer / Director of Facilities. Perform visual inspections for the detection of abnormal operation and correction of deficiencies Repair or replace defective heating, ventilation and A/C equipment including but not limited to: Natural Gas Medical gases, e.g., oxygen, air and vacuum Heating systems including traps, valves, controls, piping and various types of heating equipment A/C systems Outside utilities (on premises) sewer and storm drains, gas, water Various pumps Hot and cold water tanks and systems Maintain an ongoing preventive maintenance program throughout the facility complex Maintain a professional appearance at all times Keep a clean, safe work area Maintain an inventory and order stock as approved by the Director of Engineering Coordinate shutdown of the various heating, ventilation and A/C systems with all necessary staff Work according to codes Conserve resources and material Work within OSHA Safety Standards Assist in all other areas as needed Maintain the confidentiality and security of all facility and patient related information (HIPPA) Puts Customer Service first: Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a safe, caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights Subject to being called in for emergencies Caring Practices Practice acts of kindness. Develop helpful and trusting relationships with residents, families and staff. Promote and accept the expression of both negative and positive feelings. Use creative problem-solving to meet the needs of others. Communication Introduces self to residents/families and explain role in care Communicates with residents/families/visitors/staff in a manner that conveys respect, caring and sensitivity. Listens and respects others’ opinions. Accountable for staying informed by reviewing memos, emails and other forms of communication. Responsible for communicating and responding to issues and problems within the Community in a timely and efficient manner. Responds to residents in all situations with a calm, sensitive and supportive approach. Teamwork/Collaboration and Flexibility Is flexible to the needs of the department and New Bridge on the Charles Acts in a manner outside the traditional “role” as needed in order to meet residents’/patients’ needs. Works as a member of the team by pro-actively working to meet resident needs. Promotes a healthy environment by demonstrating trust, mutual respect, visible support and open, honest communication with all members of the team. Involves other team members by constantly sharing information. Is aware and respects others’ cultures, values, and backgrounds and considers differences when communicating and providing care. Professionalism Follows all policies and procedures set forth by the organization and outlined in New Bridge on the Charles’ policy manuals and the employee handbook. Maintains confidentiality of resident information. Meets all requirements as outlined by regulatory and licensure standards. Wear I.D. Badge at all times Technical Skills/Documentation Demonstrates competence with data entry and access to the electronic medical record (if applicable). Maintains documentation in accordance with professional standards and guidelines (if applicable). Uses the computer as trained to access emails and other online resources. Safety Practices in accordance with established standards of care for safety of resident/patient, self and co-workers. Identifies and reports basic safety issues or problems (ex. Spills) and takes action whenever appropriate. Identifies and reports errors/potential errors according to policy. Uses equipment as trained and according to organizational policy. Identifies malfunctioning equipment, removes from use, and reports according to policy. Adheres to all infection control policies. Promotes the health and safety of all by following established infection control procedures (i.e., hand washing, use of personal protective equipment). Report any violation of OSHA to supervisor. Notify supervisor of any problems or delays in projects. Report defective materials, faulty operation of equipment and unusual matters to Supervisor and appropriate personnel. Other Participates in department meetings as required Performs other related duties as required or directed. III.Qualifications Education level required: High School Diploma or Trade School Years of Experience: Five years HVAC Licensure/Board Certification: Universal EPA 608 Certification IV. Physical Requirements: Please refer to the Physical Requirements sheets in Occupational Health Remote Type Salary Range: $63,717.24 - $95,575.34
