Ophthalmic Technician Location: Boston, MA Agency: TalentBurst Inc. Pay: $1,860 per week Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Start Date: 4/20/2026 About the Position Facility: BIDMC 04/20/26 to 07/18/26 13 Weeks 40 Hours/week 8H Day 8a-4:30p Position Description : Mon-Fri 8a-4:30p Required: GED or HS diploma. Certified as COA, COT, COMT by JCAHPO. Min 1 year of experience. Preferred: Vocational or technical training in an accredited program. Job Description : Escorts patients to and from exam rooms. Takes a complete history focusing on the patients eye symptoms. Reviews allergies and medications. Performs visual acuity tests and uses tonopens and applanation to measure intraocular pressure. Administers eye drops in preparation for the eye exam, Performs visual fields, A/B ultrasonic scans, autorefraction, OCT, fundus photography, lensometry and topography. Performs refractions. Monitors provider schedules and patient flow. Gathers and coordinates information necessary for patient records. Monitors supply rooms and keeps exam rooms stocked and supplied. Cleans and maintains equipment and coordinates repairs as needed. Trains on the job for new tasks and ancillary skills as needed. Participates in employer sponsored training and continuing education. Summary : fulfills numerous functions to prepare patients for evaluation by an Ophthalmologist and/or Optometrist., including acquiring health histories from patients, performing preliminary eye function testing, administering eye drops, managing patient flow and maintaining equipment. Performs refractions. Manager will make final offer. Orientation is weekly (Mondays) Candidates who have worked within BILH as perm, per diem or travel must be separated from the health system for 6 months before returning.
