Job Description:
About the Opportunity JOB SUMMARY The Weightlifting Coach will
help supervise practices, meets, and provide constructive feedback
on athlete form and weight selection. They will also help educate
athletes on ways to improve besides weightlifting (nutrition,
mobility, etc.) PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and improve
participant sport skills Attend and supervise a majority of meets
and practices, including evenings and weekends Abide by all
University/Club Sport rules and regulations, including the Club
Sport Handbook Promote good sportsmanship in and out of the
weightroom Submit Weekly Timesheets Communicate with Associate
Director of Club Sports as needed on issues associated with the
club or any of its participants. These issues include, but are not
limited to: Travel Equipment Administrative tasks and
responsibilities ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure safety of
participants and monitor environmental (field/court/playing
surfaces) conditions Ensure that Injury Reports are completed for
each injury and are given to Assistant Director of Club Sports
within 24 hours Ensure proper warm-up/stretching for
student-athletes prior to practice or competition Able to attend
practices (2025-26 practice times TBD, but will likely be
evenings/nights 3x/week including 1 practice on Saturday/Sunday)
Able to attend USAW Collegiate Nationals with the team Able to
attend local weightlifting meets (4-5 a year) Have either a
background in physical therapy or strength training Knowledgeable
about the two main lifts in weightlifting (Snatch, Clean & Jerk)
Willing to help develop and coach a group of young athletes, some
with little to no weightlifting experience Able to give
constructive criticism on an athlete’s form and weight selection
QUALIFICATIONS Preferred 1 year of Olympic Weightlifting coaching
experience and 2 years of Olympic Weightlifting experience.
High-level knowledge of the sport Communication Accountability
Adaptability Organized PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Work may involve the
performance of heavier physical tasks such as walking over rough or
uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, working in confined space, and
lifting or carrying moderately heavy items, up to 200lbs. The work
environment may involve exposure to various elements such as
chemicals, dust, fumes, cold, heat, noise, vibrations, or dampness,
where work exposes the employee to potentially non-disabling
injuries. Duties may require that work be performed in adverse
weather conditions. Work may require exposure to dangerous
equipment and machinery requiring the use of protective clothing or
