Job Description:
Monitor product performance and industry trends, develop
recommendations and implement product changes to improve product
performance. Lead semi-annual rate change process; develop
recommendations for product changes. Lead business requirements
development for product changes, collaborate with IT on developing
functional requirements, testing and implementation. Contribute to
the development of the companys product features, pricing and
competitive position. Analyze business issues and provide
recommendations for the implementation of new rating plans,
underwriting rules, process improvements, and other initiatives to
support profitable growth and improve competitive position.
Understand predictive modeling and other quantitative concepts and
serves as a resource to other Product Analysts in interpreting
these concepts for business application. Develop and presents a
comprehensive review of the products he/she is responsible for.
Examine the impact of changes in state regulatory environment on
the product and business processes and proposes necessary changes.
Design, reviews, and analyzes monthly and quarterly reports used to
manage the companys financial and operational performance, as well
as ad hoc analyses as needed. Analyze competitive data, identifies
trends and opportunities. Recommend areas for enhancement to
products to improve competitive position. Play a key role in User
Acceptance Testing, product verification and product
implementation. Assist with annual loss and premium budgets. Use
available tools and data systems to identify, test and solve
strategic business issues within the company data/reports,
troubleshoots when there are inconsistencies and presents findings
to management. Collaborate with the Actuarial team and other
functional areas such as Customer Service, Marketing, Claims,
Finance, Information Systems, and Senior Management to assess the
potential effects of product changes and incorporates these
considerations into recommendations. Challenge current processes
and propose solutions to obtain the best outcome. Query databases,
gather data, perform prescribed ad-hoc analyses. Gather competitive
information. Test defect fixes in QA and production
environments. Education and Experience: Master's Degree in Economics, Finance,
Statistics, Mathematics or related field (willing to accept foreign
education equivalent) plus two (2) years of experience in
monitoring and analyzing insurance trends. Special Requirements: Demonstrated expertise utilizing SQL to
develop reusable scripts and stored procedures with relational
databases; Demonstrated expertise utilizing SAS, Excel, including
VBA, or comparable statistical tools to perform advanced
statistical analyses; Demonstrated expertise performing Time Series
and Predictive Analysis; Demonstrated expertise using Tableau to
create visualization and present data in a manner that is
functional to upper management; Demonstrated expertise performing
statistical analyses on historical loss cost to forecast future
loss cost and assess expected close rate; and Demonstrated
expertise performing analyses using RADAR to monitor and forecast
product performance.
