Would you like to work with the leading smart home company in North America? Because to the technology it has developed, this Seaport, Boston-based company has revolutionized how families may feel safer in their homes. They have invested in a smart home system that provides artificial intelligence for necessary household items. Via the company's smartphone app, customers can control their garage doors, lighting, cameras, thermostats, locks, and security sensors. To grow their product offering while operating in an agile environment, they have hired an Android developer.

To enhance the consumer-facing app that users use to control their smart home equipment, they are looking for an Android developer. You must be conversant with commercial-grade mobile devices and possess a strong ability to conceptualize abstractly, break down difficult use cases, and then transform the vision into trustworthy design results. The demands of the customer must come first. using facts and research to guide your design decisions, maintaining a rigidly high standard for yourself, and offering exceptional customer service.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years professional Android development experience or equivalent
  • B.S. in Computer science or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Bug Tracking and Source control (JIRA, Git)
  • Common software architectural practices and principles (MVC, MVP, MVVM, Clean, SOLID)
  • Refactoring and Unit Testing
  • Mobile analytics frameworks
  • Agile development processes (Scrum)
  • Driving mobile architectural changes within an organization

    Desired Skills & Experience
    • Familiarity with the technical considerations needed when designing, and experience collaborating with product managers and engineers to bring designs to life through the full product life cycle.

      What You Will Be Doing
      Tech Breakdown
      • As a more senior engineer you'll also be responsible for mentoring our other Android engineers that are earlier in their careers, and will be responsible for working across engineering disciplines to help ensure we have the right system-wide architecture
      • You write high-quality, readable, testable code
      • Build software experiments and funnels to assess and validate product and design approaches, and fine-tune based on analytics and other feedback mechanisms
      • Help define and create new architecture and tooling for the apps and work collaboratively with your immediate and extended team to evangelize the content you're creating so it can be leveraged across the business
