Please note that the Senior Software Engineer in Test is a Boston-based onsite position, but we offer a flexible schedule that allows you to work from home 1-2 days per week, if needed.
Emulate is actively seeking a seasoned Senior Software Engineer in Test with expertise in robotics, capable of crafting meticulous test plans from project requirements, running tests effectively, and developing automated test suites. In this pivotal role, you'll ensure the quality and reliability of our robotics systems, leveraging advanced testing methodologies and automation frameworks. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you'll design robust test cases, execute comprehensive tests, and drive continuous improvement in our testing strategies.     • Drive relentless pursuit of excellence in all aspects of test planning, execution, and automation, including conducting thorough root cause analyses for identified defects.
    • Design and implement automated test suites using appropriate testing frameworks, ensuring continuous improvement.
    • Execute manual and automated tests rigorously, persistently pursuing high standards of quality.
    • Perform regression testing to validate software changes.

            Desired Skills:

            • 3-4 years software testing experience with 1-2 of those years in robotics or hardware related fields.
            • Bachelor's in computer science or the equivalent.
            • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java, with a focus on software testing and automation.
            • Understanding of robotics principles, including kinematics, dynamics, and sensor integration.
            • Knowledge of software testing methodologies and best practices, including unit testing, integration testing, and system testing.
            • Familiarity with software testing tools and frameworks, such as Robot Framework, PyTest, or JUnit.
            • Experience in developing and maintaining automated test frameworks for robotics systems.
            • Ability to design and execute test plans and test cases for complex robotic software and hardware components.
            • Proficiency in debugging tools and techniques for identifying and resolving issues in robotic systems.
            • Experience with simulation environments for virtual testing of robotic algorithms and behaviors.
            • Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
            • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in identifying and troubleshooting issues in robotic systems.
            • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
            • Experience with version control systems such as Git for managing software repositories.
            • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and practices, including Scrum or Kanban.
            • Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
            • Experience with robotic frameworks and middleware such as ROS (Robot Operating System) or similar platforms is a plus.
            • Experience in testing AI algorithms is a plus.
