Job Description:

Duties: Manage and grow infrastructure supporting our large-scale

internet e-commerce platform and big data analytics environment. Focus

on administration of Microsoft SQL Server with exposure to a broad range

of database technologies. Provide support of database infrastructure and

operations including: high availability engineering; monitoring,

troubleshooting and on call support; SQL query tuning and optimizations;

facilitating data replication, BI analytics and development environment

refreshes; researching, prototyping and developing new database

technology service offerings; life cycle support of existing database

service researching, evaluating, testing and installing updates and

patches; working with Application Engineering teams developing new

business initiatives and algorithms; and performance, capacity and

availability KPI instrumentation and trending analysis.

Requirements: Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems,

Engineering or related field (willing to accept foreign education

equivalent) plus two (2) years of experience performing SQL server

development, performance tuning and maintenance or, alternatively, a

Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience as noted above. One

year of experience must include: Performing database and schema design,

and capacity planning for new and existing SQL servers and databases;

monitoring growth of database objects over time; and installing and

configuring SQL and MySQL instances on newly provisioned servers;

Setting up backup and recovery plans for SQL databases, an

troubleshooting SQL server service outages; Proactively monitoring the

database environment and refining data structures, SQL, application

logic, and the DBMS subsystem to optimize performance; Reviewing code

written by developers and recommending changes for optimization;

Upgrading and migrating SQL databases and instances to more recent

versions of SQL server; performing capacity planning for new and

existing SQL servers and databases; and monitoring growth of database

objects over time; Performing design, debugging, implementation, and

maintenance for stored procedures, triggers, and user-defined functions

stored in the DBMS; Implementing security authentication and

authorization for SQL databases so that database access is regulated for

SOX and non-SOX databases; Performing query optimization and performance

tuning using third party tools like SolarWinds Database Performance

Analyzer, and SQL Sentry; and Performing Change control using GIT and

SVN and deploying database changes.
