This is a Flex role, which allows for work to be completed from
home while our offices are not fully opened due to the pandemic
with occasional in-person meeting attendance. Once the offices are
fully re-opened, this role will typically require onsite work 2-3
days each week, or more depending on business needs. Local
candidates only with Pharma and/or Bio Tech experience
required.

- Looking for a talented, collaborative individual to join the
SMPA Legal and Compliance Affairs Group as a Senior
Paralegal.
- SMPA supports numerous US and Global affiliates of the Pharma
Group, Pharma Oncology, Inc., Biopharma, and their respective
subsidiaries by providing professional shared services expertise to
achieve greater efficiencies and enable discovery, development, and
commercialization of innovative treatments to help patients. The
SMPA Legal and Compliance Affairs team is staffed with
approximately 35 experienced professionals who provide a broad
range of strategic legal and compliance services to each of these
affiliates, including Commercial Law, Contracts, Employment Law,
Intellectual Property, Corporate Governance, Litigation, and
Business Development legal and compliance services.
- Reporting to the VP, Head of Legal Affairs SMP Oncology, the
Senior Paralegal will help drive excellence in both contract
drafting and process infrastructure. You will work collaboratively
with all groups within the company supporting the corporate legal
department to administer and negotiate a high volume, extensive
range contracts, including Clinical Trial, IT, General
Administration, Supply and Commercial,. - In addition, you will be
a key player on the team helping to assign and manage the contract
flow with the contract attorneys.

Essential Functions:
- Draft, negotiate, and administer contracts under minimal
supervision
- Partner with business functions to draft and help negotiate
master service agreements, standalone agreements, work orders,
change orders, amendments, confidentiality, HCP-related Agreements,
and IT-related agreements as needed
- Management of contract template processes, including systematic
reviews of templates and playbooks, and incorporation of best
contracting practices and provisions
- Manage the electronic contract management system (Agiloft)
assignments to attorneys
- Identify risks and issues, suggest alternatives that lead to
the best solution
- Develop and implement improvements to the contracting process
and ongoing compliance
- Monitor agreements throughout the contract life cycle
- Partner with and help advise internal teams of company
processes, contract status, and make recommendations based on
company policies and standards
- Work with internal attorneys and other business functions to
ensure that templates and agreements are in compliance with legal
requirements and best practices
- Work on other legal projects as needed

Skills:
- Ability to independently draft, negotiate, and administer
contracts including redlining of contracts and propose
language
- Excellent contract negotiating, drafting, and influencing
skills; expert knowledge of contract structures and types, contract
principles, contract tools and systems, and automation
functionality.
- Passionate about innovating the legal service delivery model;
possess a strong "service" mindset.
- Excellent communication skills; practical and enthusiastic
problem-solver who is confident and calm under fire and can work

- Good judgment in working with clients, and occasionally under
ambiguous or challenging circumstances
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively collaborate in a dynamic environment

Education:
- Bachelor's degree required; JD or paralegal certification
preferred
- 5+ years of direct contract experience, Biotech /
Pharmaceutical Industry preferred
