Job Description - Quality and Safety Program Coordinator (3147019) Quality and Safety Program Coordinator - ( 3147019 ) The Quality and Safety Program Coordinator responsibilities are to provide program data/reporting and administrative support to the MGHfC quality and safety team. The incumbent will interact with several members of the health care team across MGHfC (Ambulatory, Inpatient, Surgical Services) and MGH including physicians, administrative executives, nurse and physician leaders, RNs, social workers etc. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for a wide range of information gathering, synthesizing and reporting activities in support of the quality and safety program Maintains various databases and spreadsheet applications to synthesize various quality and safety data sources including patient experience of care data, patient outcomes data, safety reporting data, etc. Collects and maintains quality improvement data and disseminates information at the direction of Manager of Quality and Safety Prepare presentations that incorporate data summaries and analyses for executive, management and physician audiences Respond to ad hoc requests for information on current status, projections, benchmarks, trends etc. Help to support institutional quality and safety requirements that require various data/reporting elements including:

  • Patient and Family Experience
  • Joint Commissions requirements
  • MGPO Quality Incentive Bonus Program
  • MGB quality requirements
  • US News and World Report- Best Children's Hospital analysis Assist in the analysis and dissemination of surveys and other data results Organizes and oversess MGHfC OPPE (ongoing professional practice evaluation) of MDs
    • Collect data from multiple sources and enter into tracking system
    • Review all results and provide summary to Quality and Safety Managers and Medical Directors
    • Maintain provider improvement plans
    • Prepare OPPE reports for providers that correspond to the providers credentialing renewals Provides grant management support for the Quality and Safety mini-grant program
      • Prepare and collect applications for annual cycles
      • Prepare team review/awarding processes
      • Maintain mini-grant timelines, award cycles
      • Collect progress reports
      • Acts as a liaison between awardees and Q&S team Maintains the MGHfC Quality and Safety Intranet and Internet pages Leads the creation of the quality and safety program quarterly newsletter and various publications, including posters, flyers etc. Oversees the MGHfC "Good Catch" program- aimed at rewarding staff for near- misses Develops and prepares materials for committee meetings and presentations Coordinating Q&S Inpatient, Ambulatory and Executive Leadership Meetings including logistics, preparing meeting materials and maintaining meeting minutes Perform administrative functions including processing invoices, payments and reimbursements and tracks budget items Attends formal and informal presentations related to quality and safety across MGHfC, MGH and MGB. Develop drafts of surveys and work with key constituencies to track and maintain survey results. Special Projects: Completes special projects relating to quality and safety; duties can include project tracking/milestone tracking, project summaries, data collection, assist with improvement cycles etc. Examples of quality and safety special projects include LOS/Capacity, Medication Safety, Infection Control practices/Safety Huddles, Patient Experience survey results, Diversity/Equity and Inclusion analytics and various divisional process improvement/efficiency projects across MGHfC. Conduct literature searches and research for various quality and safety projects focusing on national standards and evidence-based care guidelines. Assist to disseminate this information across MGHfC SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsComputer skills to acquire knowledge of hospital systemsExcellent word processing/Excel/database skillsExcellent organizational skillsAbility to work well under pressureAbility to appropriately handle sensitive/confidential informationIndependent judgment, decision making and ability to prioritizeInitiative and flexibilityEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:High School Diploma Required, Bachelor's degree strongly preferred2-5 years relevant work experience required, program assistance in a health care setting strongly prefferedWORKING CONDITIONS: Office environmentSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: NAFISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: NA Massachusetts General Hospital is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
