BGCB has a prestigious and committed Board of Directors and has built and retained an experienced and passionate management team, staff, and volunteer organization. BGCB has a deep and longstanding commitment to meeting the needs of the communities we serve in an impactful way. Instrumental to maintaining and advancing this commitment to excellence is the organization's executive leadership. The leadership demonstrates vision and thoughtfulness rooted in an understanding of the importance of learning from others.BGCB has demonstrated dynamic leadership in the lives of youth in the cities of Boston and Chelsea by:
    • Operating 11 Clubs and YouthConnect
    • Serving more than 12,500 youth
    • Working with more than 200 community partners
    • Operating YouthConnect in partnership with the Boston Police Department

    • Raising operating funds of more than $26 million annually
    • Completing a bold strategic plan for the next five years
    • Working closely with BGCA Leadership as one of the leading Club organization in the countryAll these outstanding developments make BGCB one of the most influential and well respected not for profit organizations in Boston.BGCB has a rich history beginning when its first Club opened in Charlestown in 1893 "to make life pleasant and profitable for boys whose home lives, either from poverty or unfortunate circumstances, are unattractive." True to its roots, BGCB remains committed to helping young people ages 6-18 become responsible citizens and productive adults. Today, BGCB is Boston's largest, most comprehensive, youth development organization. The organization's presence includes eight Clubs located in Charlestown, Chelsea, Dorchester, Mattapan, Roxbury, and South Boston, three school-based Clubs located in Boston Public Schools (temporary closed due to pandemic), and licensed social workers located in eight Boston police stations and citywide units through YouthConnect. Dedicated staff work to enhance the lives of thousands of young people each year through opportunities and by instilling a sense of belonging, usefulness, influence, and competence.BGCB offer members a wide range of programs and activities rooted in six key elements of positive youth development: safety, fun, recognition, belonging, supportive relationships, and high expectations. Members who regularly attend the Club and participate at least once per week in programs are more likely to progress in BGCB's priority outcome areas of academic and life success, character and community, and healthy development. BGCB continuously looks for ways to improve programs and serves we offer our members.BGCB members come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds: 89% of BGCB members live in low or very low-income households, 86% of our members identify as a person of color. To ensure our programs are accessible to everyone, a Club membership costs $25 for 6 - 12-year-olds, and just $5 per year for teens. Finances are never a barrier to Club attendance. With this in mind, BGCB must raise 80% of its operating budget from philanthropic sources. It relies upon the generosity of individuals, corporations, and foundations to sustain and enhance programs and to continue to inspire its members toward greater achievement.Key statistics:Operating Budget $26 millionEndowment $66 millionTotal Assets $113 millionStaff 240 FTEsBoard of Directors 64 membersBoard of Trustees 140 membersTHE POSITIONBoys & Girls Clubs of Boston seeks an energetic, committed, charismatic, creative Nicholas President and Chief Executive Officer who will lead the organization into its next phase of development.
