- Operating 11 Clubs and YouthConnect

space
- Raising operating funds of more than $26 million annually
- Completing a bold strategic plan for the next five years

first Club opened in Charlestown in 1893 "to make life pleasant and
profitable for boys whose home lives, either from poverty or

BGCB remains committed to helping young people ages 6-18 become
responsible citizens and productive adults. Today, BGCB is Boston's
largest, most comprehensive, youth development organization.The
organization's presence includes eight Clubs located in
Charlestown, Chelsea, Dorchester, Mattapan, Roxbury, and South
Boston, three school-based Clubs located in Boston Public Schools
(temporary closed due to pandemic), and licensed social workers
located in eight Boston police stations and citywide units through
YouthConnect. Dedicated staff work to enhance the lives of
thousands of young people each year through opportunities and by
instilling a sense of belonging, usefulness, influence, and
competence.BGCB offer members a wide range of programs and
activities rooted in six key elements of positive youth
development: safety, fun, recognition, belonging, supportive
relationships, and high expectations. Members who regularly attend
the Club and participate at least once per week in programs are
more likely to progress in BGCB's priority outcome areas of
academic and life success, character and community, and healthy
development. BGCB continuously looks for ways to improve programs
and serves we offer our members.BGCB members come from a variety of
socioeconomic backgrounds: 89% of BGCB members live in low or very
low-income households, 86% of our members identify as a person of
color. To ensure our programs are accessible to everyone, a Club
membership costs $25 for 6 - 12-year-olds, and just $5 per year for
teens. Finances are never a barrier to Club attendance. With this
in mind, BGCB must raise 80% of its operating budget from
philanthropic sources. It relies upon the generosity of
individuals, corporations, and foundations to sustain and enhance
programs and to continue to inspire its members toward greater

Girls Clubs of Boston seeks an energetic, committed, charismatic,
creative Nicholas President and Chief Executive Officer who will
lead the organization into its next phase of development. Reporting
to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will be the
operational and strategic leader of the organization, as well as a
high-profile ambassador for the organization to key external
constituents.The key elements in this role include:
- Demonstrating a deep commitment to building stronger
communities through youth development.
- Providing operating as well as strategic vision and long-range
leadership for the organization.
- Ensuring the achievement of fundraising goals by managing and
motivating the development team and supporting this effort by
cultivating strong relationships with existing and new key
donors.
- Promoting opportunities for external partnership building with
key government and community leaders as well as other youth service
providers.
- Cultivating and expanding citywide/statewide connections to
further enhance the profile and influence of BGCB on issues
affecting youth in Boston and Chelsea.
- Leading by example, increasing the staff's capacity to think
and act strategically and working collaboratively to grow and
retain the staff.
- Continuing to build a diverse staff and Board.
- Developing strong systems that promote staff accountability,
track progress towards goals, and support the organization and its
people through growth, change and development.
- Working and communicating successfully with the Board of
Directors, its committees, and local community boards to build
consensus around key operational and strategic priorities.Required

strong planning and organizational development skills.
- Highly developed consensus management skills, with excellent
initiative, creativity, and a "self-starter" attitude.
- A "team player" disposition and a "hands-on" executive
management style, with a track record of operating with the highest
integrity. Candidates must display significant success in
developing and maintaining relationships with a range of external
partners.
- A comprehension and appreciation of financial and operational
management and the metrics and performance indicators used to
measure progress, as well as a critical acuity for the application
of these tools.
- Significant experience leading an organization of breadth and
significance in its community, preferably with multiple sites.At a
personal level, the appropriate candidate will bring experience,
warmth, and dedication to relationship-building on behalf of the

graduate degree would be desirable. Nevertheless, while education
