Voyager is seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist/Associate Scientist to join the Process Development Group with a focus on downstream purification. The qualified candidate will have a strong background and expertise in downstream manufacturing of biologics. Primary responsibilities will include carrying out downstream process development activities for the manufacture of pre-clinical and cGMP grade rAAV products, participating in internal productions, writing documents, and assisting with technology transfer activities. The ability to independently organize and design experiments, analyze data and report the results of their and other's work in a concise and well documented manner are all important aspects of the position. This is a 12 month contract position.


  • Perform benchtop and preparative separations of rAAV particles using various separation and chromatographic techniques
  • Develop purification protocols for viral capsids using column chromatography / AKTA protein purification systems
  • Complete concentration and diafiltration operations using Tangential Flow Filtration
  • Carryout Pmax and Vmax studies for depth and sterile filtration development
  • Prepare reagents and solutions required for production protocols
  • Assist with the production of nonclinical materials at Voyager
  • Maintain and update various databases and electronic notebook entries, as needed
  • Participate in writing various experimental reports, SOPs, batch records, and technology transfer documents.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in related discipline with 1-5 years of relevant experience OR MS in related discipline with 0-4 years of relevant experience
  • Previous experience in downstream purification of biotherapeutics
  • Experience with purification techniques, including the use of AKTA systems, TFF systems, and cell filtration devices is desired
  • Familiarity with high-throughput chromatography applications is a plus
  • Strong desire to learn multiple new techniques and willingness to provide support to more senior research personnel as required
  • Significant attention to detail and accuracy in developing and following protocols
  • Ability to be highly productive in a fluid, fast-paced and teamwork environment
