Overview

Research Scientist position available in a laboratory at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, using systems biology, molecular biology, single-cell, bioinformatics, and computational approaches to understand virus-host interactions and disease mechanisms in HIV infection and associated comorbidities including accelerated aging, immune dysregulation, neurological disease, and cancer. Bioinformatics scientists work closely with wet lab scientists to generate, analyze, and interpret large-scale datasets using various software for data integration, network prediction, pathway analysis, and machine learning. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in relevant areas of molecular biology and biomedical science and perform wet lab experiments in addition to bioinformatics and computational analysis.

Responsibilities

Bioinformatics scientists work closely with wet lab scientists to generate, analyze, and interpret large-scale datasets using various software for data integration, network prediction, pathway analysis, and machine learning. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in relevant areas of molecular biology and biomedical science and perform wet lab experiments in addition to bioinformatics and computational analysis.

Qualifications

M.D. or Ph.D. in molecular biology, virology, immunology, biomedical science, computational biology, or bioinformatics. The candidate should have experience in cell and molecular biology, RNAseq, FACS analysis, and bioinformatics, and be fluent in English with excellent oral and written communication. Experience in single-cell RNAseq, isolation of human blood cells, proteomics, metabolomics, extracellular vesicles/exosomes, programming, and computational modeling is desirable but not required.
