Provides technical and engineering support to the Operations department. Performs, completes and documents Process Equipment repairs, PMs, Calibrations and general upkeep. Responsibilities include: supporting operations equipment use and performance, supporting the introduction of new processes or equipment into the manufacturing facility, performing the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of equipment, operator training, maintain service records, creating and developing CAD drawings, writing and producing quality documents as needed such as SOPs, and NC investigations.  Acts as the subject matter expert (SME) for process equipment use and operation and act as first response for shop floor alerts. Support shop floor activities and work with operators as required to complete daily operational targets. 


Please note the shift for this role is Wednesday - Sunday.  We offer free garage parking and a shuttle to our site. 




Support Daily Manufacturing Activities

  • Support daily operations inclusive of setup, operation, disassembly, and cleaning of manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment as required where impacts apply to manufacturing activities.
  • Effectively start, stop and operate all equipment.

Perform or coordinate Equipment Calibration and Preventative Maintenance

  • Perform calibrations and/or verifications of instruments and equipment to approved job plans, work instructions and/or procedures.
  • Perform testing on electronic components to determine functionality level and capacity.
  • Perform calibrations and/or verifications of instruments and equipment to approved job plans, work instructions and/or procedures.
  • Use manual and powered electrical repair and diagnostic tools/ instruments skillfully.
  • Plan and coordinate external calibration services. Coordinate on-site calibration and maintenance with contract service providers.
  • Utilize expertise of instrument, equipment, and loop calibrations of various parameters used within the site’s manufacturing operations, laboratories, and facilities.
  • Complete all cGMP documentation associated with calibration and maintenance tasks.
  • Review calibration SOPs for accuracy during routine calibration or when a new instrument is introduced into the calibration database. Create or revise the SOPs as needed.
  • Create, update, and maintain equipment service records.

Engineering Support

  • Participate in equipment evaluations and validation activities associated with the manufacturing process.
  • Work with engineering and management staff on process development and validation activities. 

Facilities Support

  • Support in-house equipment repairs and provide onsite coordination for service vendors.
  • Work with facilities staff during placement of new equipment and moving of existing equipment.
  • Support facilities staff during new utility installations or modifications to existing utilities (electrical, water, air etc.)


Support Quality Investigations and Initiatives.

  • Perform investigational activities around events/non-conformances or customer complaints with effective root cause identification.
  • Perform Corrective & Preventative Action plans around manufacturing activities as requested.
  • Create or revise controlled documentation as required. 

Perform other duties as directed by Manager.


The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

  • Associates Degree (occupational or technical program) required
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a regulated medical device environment performing equipment calibration and maintenance.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with precision equipment calibration - temperature, pressure, dimensional, etc.
  • Experience with the use of basic mechanical hand tools (saws, drill press, grinder). Manual machining skills (with use of lathe / milling machine) are a plus.
  • Skilled in the use of basic mechanical and electrical testing instruments (flowmeters, manometers, multi-meters).
  • Experience with repair of electro-mechanical systems (HVAC/Refrigeration systems a plus).
  • Experience with pipe fitting (Copper, PVC, Polypropylene).
  • Effectively work under minimal supervision.  
  • Able to work from specifications, drawings, verbal instructions, or sketches.
  • Time management oriented with the ability to support overtime activities to meet project objectives.
  • Must have PC experience, especially with Microsoft office packages i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. CAD experience (AutoCAD) a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must read, write and speak in English, and communicate clearly and concisely 


  • Shop machinery such as milling machines, lathes, drill presses, band/circular saws, grinders and sanders.
  • General application hand and power tools such as wrenches, drills, hand grinders and pipe fitting tools.
  • Test instruments such as digital thermometers, tachometers, anemometers, multi-meters and manometers.
  • Production equipment including heat sealers, ultrasonic tanks, orbital shakers, lyophilizers, refrigerators, freezers, pumps, pH meters, temperature probes, balances (scales), water bath circulators, pneumatic presses, fleshing machines, drop indicators, PLCs and temperature recording devices.
  • Facilities equipment including compressed air systems, water purification systems, cold rooms, air handlers, supply fans, exhaust Fans, building management system controls.
