Job DescriptionVarious locations:The Lifeguards and Pool
Monitors ensure the safety of pool customers and assist with
aquatic emergencies and pool operations. Work is performed under
the general supervision of the Pool Manager.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF
THE JOB:Safeguards and regulates the conduct of pool patrons.
Enforces pool policies, rules, and regulations. Rescues people and
performs appropriate follow-up procedures, including the proper use
of equipment in the performance of first aid.May test water quality
in the pool and maintain appropriate records. Assists in the proper
maintenance and sanitary upkeep of the pool, pool area, and/or
facility. Participates in the preparation of daily records.
Provides written reports on all accidents. Maintains properly
updated safety requirements.Conducts patron swimming test to assess
the ability to swim independently and unattended. Provides customer
service to patrons, including handling customer conflict and
complaints, as necessary.Performs work safely in accordance with
departmental safety procedures. Operates equipment safely and
reports any unsafe work conditions or practices to the supervisor.
May verify key card numbers for accurate membership of guests. May
work snack bar.May provide guidance to less experienced Lifeguards
during shift. May assist Aquatics Coordinator in daily aquatic
managerial duties. May maintain proper chemical balances in both
pool and/or spa as directed making adjustments to these balances as
directed. May handle mechanical/pump room or chemical problems as
necessary.Performs related work as required.RequirementsTo perform
the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each
essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are
representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability
required.Lifeguards - Must possess valid Lifeguarding Certificates,
which include First Aid/AED, Title 22, and Cardio Pulmonary
Resuscitation (CPR) for the Professional Rescuer.Knowledge of water
rescue methods.Knowledge of lifeguarding and first-aid practices
and techniques.Knowledge of swimming pool operations including
sanitation, maintenance, and safety.Must have the ability to
courteously and firmly interact with pool patrons.Ability and skill
in carrying out water rescues which may require heavy lifting and
