- ( 3184952 ) Description GENERAL SUMMARY: This position offers an
exciting opportunity for an individual with training and experience
in in data science or statistical genetics, who has an interest in
applying novel genetic data and causal inference methods to support
drug discovery and development. The t successful candidate will
possess strong skills in running genome-wide association analysis
for clinical phenotypes using electronic health records and
quantitative trait loci (proteomics, metabolomics, methylation and
gene-expression) for large-scale population studies She/He/They
will become a member of an interdisciplinary team with expertise in
epidemiology, statistical genetics, health informatics and
clinicians from the Division of Aging as well as the Massachusetts
Veterans Epidemiology Research and Information Center (MAVERIC) at
VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHS), the CAUSALab at Harvard T.H.
Chan School of Public Health (HSPH) (Professor Miguel Hernan's
team) and will have access to data from large-scale genomic
biobanks such as the Million Veteran Program (MVP), UK-Biobank, and
FinnGen, etc. for the purpose of drug-discovery and
development.
- To develop statistical pipelines using statistical methods,
such as Mendelian randomization and colocalization, that link
clinical data, genomics and other omics for the purpose of drug
discovery.
- To lead in the preparation of large-scale datasets for genomic
analysis for drug discovery purposes.
- To contribute to the creation of standardized genomic resources
on clinical phenotypes and molecular traits using private and
publicly available genomics resources.
- To work with large-scale genomic biobanks (such as MVP) for
drug-discovery and development purpose.
- To contribute to the development of de-novo protocols for
requesting data access to biobanks and EHR resources (e.g.
VABHS).
- To independently complete data analyses using usual statistical
genetics software (R, Linux, Phyton, PLINK etc).
- To lead in the writing of manuscripts for publication in
peer-reviewed journals and disseminate study findings at local,
regional, and national scientific meetings.
- To work collaboratively with members of the Division of Aging
at BWH, CAUSALab at HSPH and MAVERIC at the VABHS in developing
research proposals.
- Participate in administrative activities within the Division of
Aging. Qualifications QUALIFICATONS: Candidates with a background
in statistical genetics, data science, and multi-omics data
analysis are encouraged to apply. Experience with statistical
methods such as Mendelian randomization and colocalization methods
will be an advantage. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong
skills in integrating multiple sources of data from publicly
available as well as private genomic and multi-omics resources
using standard and novel software including R, Phyton, Linux, etc,
manuscript preparation, She/He/they will collaborate with other
investigators and faculty members of BWH, VABHS and HSPH to develop
new research proposals, prepare grant applications, and other
activities.
- Doctoral degree in Statistical genetics, Data Science or
related fields
- BSc in Biostatistics, Mathematics, Computational Science or
related fields
- Minimum of 1 year of research experience
