Description:Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau
(GBCVB) is seeking an IT Support Specialist II responsible and
accountable for the strategic and day-to-day operations of our
technology systems, including implementation and maintenance at our
corporate office, our Visitor Center on Boston Common and the
mobile Visitor Center. This position reports to the VP of Leisure
Destination Services & Operations and is based in our Boston, MA
office.Responsibilities:
- Administer all operating systems and applications including but
not limited to WebEx, Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
- Responsible for upgrades and installing patches on operating
systems and applications.
- Responsible for backups and everyday maintenance of
servers.
- Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving system
problems.
- Responsible for packaging and deploying desktop
applications.
- Provide support to department users.
- Help with training and coaching employees.
- Act in alignment with user needs and system functionality to
align with organizational policy.
- Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in
a timely manner.
- Audit systems and assess their outcomes.
- Preserve assets, information security and control
structures.
- Manage annual budget and ensure cost-effectiveness of IT assets
and programs.
- Work with our external IT firm to set and execute IT needs and
expectations.
- Oversee and manage the daily operation of all departments with
their basic computing needs.
- Manage and maintain all servers, networks, systems, and
software updates, including Antivirus and email protection
solutions.
- Responsible for oversight and coordinating the implementation
of any upgrades or new services.Position Details:
- Full-time, exempt position
- Hybrid work schedule - 3 days in office / 2 days remote,
subject to change in the future
- COVID-19 considerations: All staff are required to submit proof
of having received a COVID immunization.. Requirements:
- BS in Computer Science, MIS or similar field strongly
preferred
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in the IT field including
at least 3 years as a systems lead / team leader role
- Exceptional knowledge of technical management, information
analysis and computer hardware/software systems
- Expertise in data center management and data governance
- Firsthand experience with computer networks, network
administration and network installation
- A clear understanding of client/server technology and network
architecture
- Effective communication, including writing, speaking and active
listening
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making
skills
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to work as a
member of a team
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent project management skills, including organization,
planning, time management and prioritization
