By focusing R&D efforts on four therapeutic areas and other targeted investments, we push the boundaries of what is possible in order to bring life-changing therapies to patients worldwide.Join Takeda as a Bioassay Scientist where you will responsible for designing and executing laboratory experiments to support the development, qualification, and automation of potency assays, including cell- based methods. You will also focus on the development of methods supporting biological therapeutic product release and characterization in a compliance-based environment. As part of the Discovery Research team, you will report to Potency and Functional Characterization Group Lead. How you will contribute:

  • Design and execute laboratory experiments to support method development and automation.
  • Design and participate in the qualification and transfer of potency methods.
  • Author and review technical documents such as protocols, SOPs, and reports.
  • Troubleshoot complex cell-based potency methods.
  • Manage outsourced activities pertaining to potency development, validation and testing.
  • Present data/results in group and department meetings.
  • Sample testing to support process and formulation development.
  • Perform general laboratory and equipment maintenance according to established schedules as needed. Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
    • Ph.D. in Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline with 0 - 3 years of relevant postdoctoral or industry experience.
    • MS in Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline with 3 years relevant industry experience.
    • BS in Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline with 8 years relevant industry experience.
    • In-depth understanding of relevant guidelines (ICH, USP 1032, 1033, 1034).
    • In-depth knowledge of theories/principles not limited to: performance of tissue culture, aseptic technique, potency methods (including cell-based, binding, and ELISA platforms).
    • Experience troubleshooting and optimizing cell-based potency assays desired.
    • Experience automating plate-based potency methods.
    • Experience overseeing outsourced analytical activities and collaborating with external partners desirable.
    • Familiarity with applicable regulatory guidelines (ICH, USP, EP), specifically as they pertain to potency assays desired.
    • Familiarity with software packages such as SoftMax, GraphPad, PLA, and JMP preferred. Experience with automated liquid handling platforms such as the Hamilton Star or Vantage desired.
    • Familiarity with SPR, BLI, flow cytometry, and qPCR desired.
    • Experience developing stable analytical cell lines for reporter gene applications and elevated protein expression desired. What Takeda can offer you:
