- The head of ADME characterization will be a member of global
senior leadership in DMPK and work closely with the senior
management of Research, peers and project teams to deliver quality
molecules, regardless of modality, through clinical development,
with responsibility to build and deliver quality ADME regulatory
packages.
- Directly lead and manage the in vitro ADME group to provide
radiochemistry, enzymology, transporter, and metabolite
identification related activities and expertise to discovery and
development projects.
- Oversee preparation of the regulatory related document
submission.
- Provide strategy, career development opportunities, and daily
oversight of personnel within ADME functions (Enzymology, Cellular
distribution, transporters, Biotransformation/MetID, and
Radiochemistry)
- Work with other global and local DMPK managers to reinforce and
modify the DMPK strategy and operational model to ensure future
scientific successJoin Takeda as the Head of Discovery &

you will contribute:ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Accountable for the delivery of ADME packages to regulatory
submission and response to regulatory agencies in scientific
related ADME querries.
- Inspirationally leads, directs, oversees, coaches, develops,
and motivates all DMPK scientists and staff
- Develops novel paradigms and techniques supporting ADME
characterization to improve the success rate of pre-clinical
candidates and advances them through clinical development and
regulatory filing for unmet medical needs of patients.
- Develops and implements an overall vision for the DMPK group
that is consistent with the mission and strategic objectives of
Takeda drug discovery, development and core sciences
- Partners with senior leaders in the drug discovery and
development to ensure alignment, management and delivery of drug
milestones.
- Ensures all data package content aligned with Takeda affiliate
needs, both internal and partnered programs
- Provides deep strategic leadership within the group
- Directs and integrates departmental activities to ensure
individual drug discovery and development project objectives are
met
- Plays a key role in creating and maintaining a nurturing
research environment that encourages creativity, collaboration
among scientists from different disciplines and organizations, and
efficient utilization of resources.
- Proactively seeks out new impacting technologies and
incorporates them into the company.
- Directs and integrates departmental activities to ensure the
ADME science objectives are met
- Plays a significant leadership role in the management of
cross-functional research activities that contribute to drug
discovery and development efforts
- Is responsible for the direct line management of the department
team leaders and is accountable for their performance and career
development
- Provides motivation/inspiration to colleagues and consistently
communicates with scientists inside and outside the department to
plan and optimize workflows
- Is responsible for setting and meeting department goals
- Initiates external collaborative arrangements and evaluations
as required
- Responsible for creating the department budget and adhering to
it in accordance with Takeda policy
- Coordinates the evaluation and review of data, the
determination of problem solutions, project priorities and future
strategies in multidisciplinary settings
- Has a demonstrated ability to successfully direct multiple
projects simultaneouslyMinimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Pharmacokinetics,
Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bioanalytical Chemistry or a related field
and a minimum of 15 years industry experience in a related field
OR
- M.S. in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Pharmacokinetics,
Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bioanalytical Chemistry or a related field
and a minimum of 21 years industry experience in a related field
OR
- B.S. in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Pharmacokinetics,
Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bioanalytical Chemistry or a related field
and a minimum of 23 years industry experience in a related
field
- Has demonstrated independent thought/creativity in science and
success in coordinating and executing research to further corporate
goals
- Is an acknowledged expert in the field of analytical chemistry,
mass spectrometry, Drug Metabolism/Transporter and/or DMPK
- Leadership experience of at least 9 years
- Presents research strategies formally to Research
Committee
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
