Job DescriptionMachinistFor immediate hire- A leading
manufacturer of fasteners, cable and other metal parts servicing
the cable, telecommunications and other industries is looking for a
top notch MACHINIST with at least 5 years' experience as a
MACHINIST with conventional mill and lathe/general milling by hand
in the manufacturing industry. (CNC Lathe Machinist) Responsible
for producing and maintaining high level quality parts Support
manufacturing & engineering and actively participate in the
continual improvement process. Understand specifications of the
task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints,
mechanical drawings, design layouts, etc. and then plan the
sequence of necessary machining processes for the completion of a
job Review samples, drawings, or instructions to understand
specifications of required final product. Use calipers and gages
and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements Able to
select, set up and use tooling (endmills, drills, reamers, etc.)
specific to machining needs and specific to machine being used
Responsible to perform regular cleaning and light scheduled
maintenance tasks on the machine(s) Select appropriate raw material
stock, take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping
Select appropriate machines (e.g., Mill) and position or load
material for a job Ability to square raw material, center material
and take necessary machining steps to complete part. Monitor
machine while working to adjust the feed & speed as necessary
Supervise the machine while it executes the tasks and make any
necessary adjustments to produce a better result Inspect and
measure finished products and compare them with drawing
requirements to determine if the machining process has been
completed properly. Troubleshoot and report problems,
discrepancies, anomalies in a timely manner. Essential Knowledge
and Skills Skill in operating Bridgeport mill (and similar mills
and lathes), as well as, precision measurement tools. Ability to
read and interpret mechanical documents, blueprints and drawings A
keen eye for detail and solid mechanical and mathematical aptitude.
Experience performing full set-ups and holding tolerances as tight
as +/- .001" Must be able to use necessary measuring tools
(Micrometers, Calipers, Dial Indicators, Gages, etc.) as required
Must have good communication skills Must be able to read, write and
understand English 3+ years of prior manual mill experience in
basic machining required Must have sound knowledge of cutting tool
feeds and speeds Possibly open to relocation? MachinistAll
