and Facilities (PREF) division is seeking a Campus Planner to join
a talented team of planners, architects, and designers at a
dynamic, top tier, urban research university.The Campus Planner
will join the University as it continues a more-than- decade-long
trajectory of unprecedented growth in student enrollment, faculty,
staff, and physical space along with tremendous advances in
academic and research rankings. The mission of PREF is to shape and
care for Northeastern University's physical environment in support
of learning and discovery. It is in this context that the Planner,
reporting to the Associate Vice President for Campus Planning and
Design, will be responsible for managing space and campus planning
studies in Boston and select global locations.The Planner will use
their skillset to manage planning studies, develop space program
options and approaches to solve specific space needs and goals of
the University. Utilizing their background in architecture, space
or urban planning and design thinking, the Planner will evolve
program needs into practical short- and long-term options, develop
graphics to visualize these options and approaches, and assemble
graphically clear presentation and communication materials to
provide decision support for senior university leadership.The
Campus Planner will ensure that the program and design decisions
reflect the experiential components of successful projects at
Northeastern, the input of critical members of the university
community, and the innovation and flexibility that Northeastern has
come to demand in the creation of new spaces.Successful candidate
will be expected to be adept in understanding space planning,
campus and urban design, the local permitting processes, community
engagement, transportation and economic issues, and the housing
market in Boston.Required QualificationsWork requires a completion
of Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Urban Planning or a closely
related field with 4 years of experience in space design or
planning. Master's Degree in Architecture, Planning, Urban Design
or a related field is preferred with a minimum of 2 years of
experience.Prior experience working in urban planning with a
municipality or higher education campus planning is preferred. Work
requires the ability to solve space and site planning issues, to
understand urban planning context, to communicate clearly in
written, verbal, and graphic form, and to collaborate effectively
as part of a team.Working at a range of planning scales from
campus-wide approaches to capital renewal, to smaller project level
planning, being able to easily pivot between each is critical.
Strong project management skills as well as the ability to apply
creative planning approaches and design thinking in a fast-paced
environment to support multiple planning activities concurrently is
essential.Knowledge of databases in Excel is a requirement of this
position. In addition, proficient use of AutoCAD, Geographic
Information Systems, Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint and other
tools to design and assemble graphically compelling presentations
is highly desirable.While no one person will embody them all, the
successful candidate will bring many of the following personal and
professional qualifications, skills, and experience:--- Bachelor's
degree in Architecture, Urban Planning or a closely related field
with 4 years of experience in space design or planning. Master's
degree in Planning, Architecture, Urban Design or a related field
is preferred with at least 2 years of experience.
--- Strong graphic visualization and presentation skills are
essential for this position.
--- Must be based proximate to Northeastern's Boston campus to
carry out this role. Ability to work in a hybrid environment where
key stakeholders engage via technology is a must.

--- Demonstrated interest in urban issues and opportunities and an
appreciation for the potential of sustainability efforts on a
large, complex campus.
--- Experience using data as well as qualitative analysis to manage
planning studies.
