make a difference?The PositionAs part of the direct scientific
interface to our local external partners, this role is central for
the success of creating a diversified external research pipeline
and has the specific purpose of:Shape and execute partnerships to
fit Novo Nordisk's demand for a diversified R& D pipelineActively
steer the scientific experts in the Bio Innovation Hub to ensure
co-creation of breakthrough therapeutic concepts with scientific
validity and soundness of these novel first-in-class product
conceptsDrive development of R& D plans for novel product concepts
and actively activate project teams within Novo Nordisk R& D to
execute on co-creation R& D plansActively connect and feed
knowledge into the Global Novo Nordisk R& D organization, with a
specific focus on diverse innovation approaches and lean project
plan executions (early project de-risking), new ways of working, as
well as, asset transitioningRelationshipsThe Senior Advisor reports
to the Vice President of the Novo Nordisk Bio Innovation Hub
Transformative Research Unit (TRU) in Boston. It is crucial that
the holder of the role will have daily proactive collaboration with
colleagues in the Boston office, the core Novo Nordisk R& D
organization as well as external partners including Biotech
companies, ventures capital and academic institutions. The role
functions as an interface between the Bio Innovation Hub and all
organizational levels within the Global Drug Discovery and Research
Technologies organizations as well as the wider R& D in Novo
Nordisk, supporting the scientific agenda developed as part of the
collaborations to be established.Essential FunctionsReview of
externally owned project concept ideas and technology platforms
with a key focus on Novo Nordisk strategy fit and anticipate
internal and external scientific challenges and recommend
improvements and ensure global scalable solutionsDrive
translational R& D plans for novel product concepts and actively
engage with cross-functional Novo Nordisk R& D teams to execute on
co-created R& D plansEnsure decisions are guided by scientific and
translational priorities also when requiring complex analysis of
situations and dataIdentify/validate product concept and technology
platform opportunities derived by external partners or TRU
scientific expertsDemonstrate ability to maintain state of the art
competences and know-how within the Cardiovascular and metabolic
field and or drug discovery and device technology areas and
proactively acquire knowledge outside own core areas of expertise
relevant to the TRU and core research organizationDevelop and
challenge novel partnership models together with the BD function to
create win-win situations for all partnersActively support and
challenge the shaping of adaptive partnerships as well as execution
to fit Novo Nordisk's demand for a diversified R& D
pipelineActively challenge the ordinary processes and priorities
upwards in the organizational hierarchy up to Executive Vice
President level.Drive generation of innovation by working closely
together with the TRU's scientific experts, external partners, and
Novo Nordisk core R& D functions to develop R& D plans to progress
disruptive co-created product conceptsProactively engage with the
core R& D organization to solve scientific challenges identified
during product concept development and utilize the DK based
Navigators to transfer assets, scientific challenges, and knowledge
to the core research organizationActively engage in learning
opportunities in relation to the external partnerships and feed
knowledge into the Global Novo Nordisk R& D organization as link
between TRU and management levels of the global R& D
organizationPhysical Requirementsup to 10% overnight travel
required.QualificationsMD or PhD required. Degree within natural
science, engineering or similar preferred8 years of relevant
professional experience:Working in cross-functional teamsScientific
and business understanding across R& D functions, and
ideallyexperience from translational medicine / pre-clinical drug
developmentProfessional clinical and/or patient care experience (4+
years preferred)Broad scientific knowledge within business relevant
therapeutic areas and/or drug discovery or device technology
developmentPharmaceutical industry knowledge/understanding and
experience with developing and executing translational scientific
strategyTrack record in setting scientific direction and driving
projects along the value chainPreferred experience:The ability to
acquire new knowledge quickly and with little
direction/oversiteGood business understanding across R& DExperience
from co-creating across entitiesExperience with a global
