Description/Comment:" What are the main functions of this role?
As a Systems Security Engineer Cyber/ISSE, your day-to-day activities may include:
o Supporting the development of cybersecurity requirements, design and architecture artifacts, plans, and policies.
o Defining security development and test efforts implementation of security controls of networking devices, databases, operating systems, and hardware and software components
o Understanding and integrating cybersecurity development activities.
o Supporting the development of RMF documents and controls validation testing for Authority to Operate (ATO) accreditations.
o Performing analysis on cybersecurity collected data and test results.
o Conducting cybersecurity audits to ensure appropriate implementation and compliance of the security posture.
o Conducting technical and nontechnical trade studies and analysis.
o Understanding, and compliance with, DoD technology release and export licensing policies.
" Required Skill Sets:
o Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 3 years of prior relevant experience. In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
o Typically Five (5)+ years of progressive technical (hands-on) experience related to Systems/Software Engineering architecture, requirements, determination, development, and implementation, Cyber Security Engineering and architecture.
" Desired Skill Sets:
o Familiar with NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF), as described in NIST Special Publication 800-37
o Knowledge of information security toolsets including anti-virus, Vulnerability Assessment, HIDS/ NIDS, host-based or endpoint security solutions, Multi Factor Authentication (MFA), and Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM) and centralized auditing tools
o Knowledge of Platform One DevSecOps environment
o Knowledge of Host Based Security System (HBSS) / Endpoint Security Services (ESS), Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) / Tenable Security Center, and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP).
o Experience in the field of Systems Engineering, including any of the following: System Requirements definition and analysis, System Test and Analysis, Systems Engineering Studies.
o Experience in security systems engineering involving various computer hardware and software S/W operating system and application solutions in both a stand-alone and in LAN/WAN configurations.
o Knowledge and integration for Manticore
o Previous Experience working with Cybersecurity Operations Center
o Security systems engineering involving various computer hardware and software S/W operating system and application solutions in both a stand-alone and in LAN/WAN configurations
o Security features and/or vulnerability analysis of various operating systems as defined by Intelligence agencies
o Experience with IT and/or network and system security administration, including operating system security configuration and account management best practices for UNIX, MS Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and CISCO systems
o Understanding of Systems Engineering requirements, specifications, and Experience implementing DoD and Federal IA Certification and Accreditation Processes, IA controls and developing and maintaining associated certification and accreditation documentation
o Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with coworkers, suppliers, management, and customers in a team environment
o Experience contributing in a team environment for the purpose of developing creative solutions to technical problems
