Return to the home page Job Description - Unit Service Associate (USA) CWN L&D/ 32 Hours / 11pm-730am Friday thru Monday / BWH Environmental Services (3232116) Unit Service Associate (USA) CWN L&D/ 32 Hours / 11pm-730am Friday thru Monday / BWH Environmental Services - ( 3232116 ) GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: This position will be responsible for equipment cleaning based on manufacturer's guidelines in conjunction with established Infection Control policies and procedures, and overall cleanliness. Responsible for a variety of tasks to maintain the cleanliness specific to the requirements of the Neonatal Intensive care Unit and Labor and Delivery. Additional responsibilities may include but are not limited to coaching and mentoring fellow USAs, providing customer service, and daily maintenance of unit supplies and equipment, and clean equipment available for clinical use PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: CWN 5 Labor and Deliver UA
    • Cleans horizontal & vertical surfaces including (but not limited to) patient rooms, bathrooms, offices, corridors, stairwells, elevators, treatment rooms, special care areas, conference rooms, locker rooms, lounges, and public areas.
    • Responds to patient requests, communicating more complex needs to the RN. Provide supportive customer service, functioning as part of the patient care team and demonstrating appropriate behavior in interactions with staff, patients and visitors.
    • Maintains neatness and organization of work and storage areas. Collects and stores cleaning equipment and supplies. Prepares cleaning solutions according to label instructions.
    • Transports patients and their belongings for testing and upon discharge from the hospital (secondary to Transport). Demonstrates an awareness of hospital systems and procedures, location of all departments, treatment areas and other patient services. Transports specimens to the lab, as required.
    • Transports, cleans and returns to designated storage area: IV poles, monitors, wheelchairs, stretchers, pumps, scales and other patient equipment as directed by the Nurse Manager.
    • Uses a variety of chemicals and equipment including (but not limited to) germicidal solution, bleach wipes, window cleaner, neutral cleaner, bucket/wringer.
    • Manages discharge cleaning of patient rooms as assigned.
    • Manages daily cleaning of occupied patient rooms as assigned.
    • Expedites discharge/transfer room cleaning and turnover, setting up for admission & promptly documenting bed availability status on Epic bed system
    • Clean rooms after discharge and prepare rooms for a new patient in Labor, Birth and Recovery rooms, Triage Rooms, Operating Rooms and Recovery Room/PACU.
    • -Follow standard process to clean all the equipment and clean and wrap cables and put them in the identified location.
    • Follow standard par for supplies, linen and baby linen in the specific area in the room.
    • Clean baby crib and brought to room with sheet on mattress and covered with a fitted sheet.
    • In addition to patient rooms, manages cleanliness of all ancillary spaces on the unit.
    • Take Placenta to refrigerator. Make sure it is labeled and is in a plastic bag.
    • Take instruments to CPD. Make sure to count the pieces of equipment and make sure to check the sheet.
    • Empties/relines soiled laundry, waste & RMW containers as needed in accordance with department procedures. Contains & transports soiled laundry, waste & RMW to disposal site. Cleans receptacles when visibly soiled.
    • Assesses patient rooms for readiness for admission, e.g equipment, damage, deferred maintenance.
    • Retrieves meal trays on an as-needed basis, log the temperature of patient room refrigerator daily and report to supervisor if temperature is not between 41 -.
    • Removes and replaces cubicle curtains from overhead tracks while standing on 6' ladder, replacing lost/broken hanger hardware.
    • Completes annual retraining requirements and remains compliant with annual screenings and vaccinations. EDUCATION:
      • High School or GED Required. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or REGISTRATIONS (if applicable):
