Job Description:
About the Extraction Director Role:
- Expertise working with CO2, Hydrocarbon, Ethanol & solventless
extraction methods, including the purification, separation, and
isolation of various compounds of the cannabis
- Design and implement cannabis product manufacturing trains,
including liquid filling systems, dry filling systems, volumetric
filling systems, mass balance analysis, counting systems, packaging
and labeling systems, bar-coding and inventory management systems,
etc.
- Design facility layouts and the placement/location of critical
pieces of equipment about utilities, HVAC, future expansion, and
logistical workflow and minimizing cross-contamination.
- Build and refine standard operating procedures in compliance
with current Good Manufacturing Practices based on target market
requirements.
- Create accurate cost of goods analysis, production estimates,
projected process/cycle times, financial models, budgetary
requirements/commitments, staffing/personnel requirements/needs,
etc.
- Responsible for managing, mentoring, developing
high-performance teams, and providing direction to direct reports,
including performance reviews and disciplinary processes.
- Identifies and drives continuous improvement/lean manufacturing
initiatives through the design and implementation of improved
manufacturing strategies
- Collaborate with Facilities/Maintenance/Procurement departments
to source and maintain equipment for extraction methods to scale
processes to meet changing demands efficiently, and ensure
employees are trained to handle and support equipment for various
forms of extraction and refinement
- Establish/identify all hazard analysis critical control points
(HACCP) for each process/product, corrective actions and
preventative actions (CAPA) for process deviations/incidents/etc.,
and critical quality attributes (CQA) for all work-in-progress and
finished products.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, including safety, environmental,
and document control requirement
- Create process diagrams outlining all aspects of the project,
including flow rates, the volume of solvent/solution per cycle,
cycle time, vessel size/type/purpose, etc., that convey the process
and steps/systems involved in producing each work-in-progress and
final product.
- Build and deploy cannabis processing trains, including bulk
drying, milling/processing, raw material transport, crude oil
extraction, product transfer, refinement, separation, purification,
and packaging/handling based on design parameters/project
specifications.
- Identity, vet, and source process equipment defined in each
process train.Extraction Director Minimum Qualifications:
- Proficient knowledge of Basic Biology and Chemistry related to
Solvents, Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics, and Lab equipment.
- Experience complying with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
Standards.
- 10 years' experience working in industrial chemistry or
chemistry manufacturing in pharmaceutical, food, or manufacturing
industries preferred.
- Bachelor's degree Required. Advance Degree, I.e., Master of
Science in Chemistry, Biology, or closely related field
