and heard. Boston Ballet School (BBS) seeks a team of 2 Residential
Counselors (RCs) to support the residential component of Junior
Summer Intensive (JSI), a training intensive for serious ballet
students between the ages of 9 and 12. Residential students and
staff are housed at Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Natick, MA.
About Junior Summer Intensive: JSI is a two-week summer dance
course for students ages 9-12 held at Walnut Hill School for the
Arts in Natick, MA. Students will attend ballet technique classes
and experience engaging enrichments such as Modern, Character,
Jazz, Yoga, and Stretch and Strengthening. Overnight students live
in the community at Walnut Hill and are supervised by adult
Residential Staff who are support for students throughout the
program and are on-call 24 hours a day. In addition to fun campus
activities, there will be a chaperoned field trip planned for one
of the weekend days. Residential Counselors: Residential Counselors
are first and foremost responsible for creating and maintaining a
safe and nurturing residential environment for young adolescents
living away from home. Additionally, Residential Counselors must be
positive and reassuring representatives of BBS and JSI when
interacting with any parents, whether in-person or over the phone.
Residential Counselors will live in the residence halls with
students, each one being responsible for overseeing a specific
group of approximately 10 students. This role will support students
and the program in the following ways:Creating a safe and nurturing
environment for students.Acting as role models / resources for
students.Helping students navigate roommate conflicts,
homesickness, etc.Hosting regular social/recreational programs,
either for small or large student groups.Hosting weekly floor
meetings for their cohort.Reporting concerns about individual
students' safety and wellbeing to program leadershipResponding to
incoming phone calls and emails from parentsOverseeing students
coming and going from the dormsBeing available for on-site student
needsHelping Administrative staff monitor students coming and going
from the studiosChaperoning students to off-site appointments
scheduled by program medical staffRunning errands (for supplies,
etc.)Chaperoning students on one off-campus field trip. Dates and
Compensation: This is a 3 week-long position.Virtual training:
Monday, July 10 - Tuesday, July 11In-person training: Wednesday,
July 12 - Saturday, July 15 (move in date 7/12)Students on campus:
Sunday, July 16 - Saturday, July 29 (Move out is at 3 pm on Sat,
Jul 29) In addition to a $1,200 stipend, room and board at Walnut
Hill is provided for all staff. Candidates must:Have had at least
four weeks of experience working in a supervisory role with
children and/or teens.Be 19 years old by the date the position
begins. (i.e. born on or before July 10, 2004)Relate to and
communicate with students/parents with empathy and compassion.Make
quick, confident decisions and respond well in emergency
situations.Remain resilient and establish healthy work-life
boundaries.Be available to fully commit to all scheduled shifts,
throughout both the day and night. (Other work or school
commitments are difficult to accommodate. Boston Ballet requires
all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as a
condition of employment unless the employee is entitles to a
religious or medical exemption. Staff members are responsible for
getting themselves to Boston; Boston Ballet does not provide
