Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to join Data Science function at a rapidly-growing Series A HealthTech?
Join an early-stage biotech start-up composed of a dynamic, interdisciplinary team of laboratory scientists, data scientists, engineers, and industry experts. Their patented technology combines machine learning, NGS data and biology to uncover small RNA (sRNA) signatures used to accelerate the development of new precision medicines. Through their machine learning platform and the use of small RNA analytics in biomarker discovery has been validated in multiple disease areas through a growing portfolio of partnerships and research collaborations, including an FDA Letter of Support in 2019.
In 2021, their unique business model placed the company at the center of drug development collaborations across various therapeutic areas, including respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological and immunological diseases. Their roadmap provides a clear path to identifying druggable targets for oligonucleotide (ODN) therapeutics and creating diagnostic products using sRNA signatures. They are looking for a creative and passionate bioinformatic scientist who can help implement their platform and analyze NGS and qPCR data to further drug and diagnostic development.
Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with data engineers, bioinformatics scientists, and laboratory scientists to design experiments that utilize our M.L platform to uncover novel sRNA signatures
  • Utilize unsupervised and supervised learning techniques to analyze NGS data and create robust classifiers that predict clinical outcomes of interest
  • Wrangle large datasets of transcriptomic expression data using SQL and R
  • Utilize advanced statistical techniques to measure significance of results controlling for potential confounding variables
  • Rigorously document all code, statistical analyses, and results in order to facilitate scientific publication and patent development
  • Interpret results and communicate biological and business impact to stakeholders using compelling visualizations and polished slides
    Qualifications
    • M.S. or PhD in Data Science, Biostatistics, Analytics, or Bioinformatics

        • Experience with big data wrangling tools (e.g. AWS, GCP, Hadoop)
        • Proficiency in Python
        • Experience with differential gene expression and bioinformatics in R, including but not limited to Limma, DESeq2, tximport
        • Knowledge of genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics including pathway analysis and gene regulation
        • Experience with normalizing datasets from different sources to increase machine learning model robustness
          Why apply:
          • Competitive base salary
