Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience. CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. As an Advanced Systems Administration Specialist , you'll serve as a front-line interface to users with technical issues by conducting systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies. Your duties may include installing new software, troubleshooting, granting permissions to applications and training users. You'll also be responsible for the day-to-day support of server services by performing server administration for physical and virtual server operating systems and configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting of physical and virtual hardware and network related interfaces on servers. And, you'll perform OS and vendor software patching on servers and monitor physical and virtual servers performance using monitoring tools. or Master's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience Solid understanding of server based operating systems Security Certification is required Enhanced troubleshooting skills within the server OS as well as both networking and storage technologies Working knowledge to create and run scripts to automate repetitive processes What sets you apart: Creative thinking with the ability to multi-task Team player who thrives in collaborative environments and revels in team success Commitment to ongoing professional development Duties and Tasks: --- Responsible for managing the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems --- Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems --- Serves as a front-line interface to users with technical issues --- Makes recommendations for hardware and software purchases --- Interacts with third-party technology vendors and internal database staff --- Conducts systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies --- Duties may include installing new software, troubleshooting, granting permissions to applications and training users --- The Server System Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day support of Server services --- Performs Server administration for Server Operating Systems --- Performs administration of physical and virtualized servers --- Responsible for the configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of physical and virtual hardware --- Configures, maintains and troubleshoots network related interfaces on servers --- Performs OS and vendor software patching on servers --- Monitors Physical and Virtual Servers performance using monitoring tools --- Performs troubleshoots and does analysis of alerts on Servers --- Run scripts and tools to automate repetitive processes and provides inputs for improvements --- Provides input and follows a Disaster Recovery Plan for Physical and Virtual Servers --- Executes Security Compliancy processes and policies --- Executes plans, designs, and implements configurations to ensure compliance with back-up/disaster recovery policies & procedures --- Supports Server related standards, policies, and procedures --- Troubleshoots Server technical issues and communicates status to Server team and stakeholders --- Develops and executes tests based on test plans for assigned tasks --- Transforms basic designs into solutions that present low impact to business operations General Dynamics Proprietary Information --- Independently identifies tasks or projects that need to be done and effectively prioritizes time to complete multiple assignments --- Process Improvement: Promotes process/policy compliance Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: --- Full use and application of standard principles, theories, concepts, and techniques --- Provides resolutions to an assortment of problems of moderately complex scope --- Uses judgment within defined practices and procedures --- Follows established directions --- Work is reviewed for accuracy and overall adequacy --- Contributes to the fulfillment of projects and organizational objectives --- May provide guidance to non-exempt personnel --- Requires a good understanding of Server based operating systems --- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with non-technical and technical audiences --- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of individuals including technical / non-technical staff --- Ability to work individually minimal supervision or collaboratively as part of a high performance team --- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills --- Demonstrated ability to assist in developing and implement plans for upgrades and system enhancements --- Demonstrated ability to assist in writing policies, procedures, and create system documentation --- Strong troubleshooting skills within the Servers OS as well as both networking and storage technologies --- Must have hands-on experience deploying and supporting large-scale enterprise server solutions --- Recommends tools for use within business unit --- Lead small team to drive a task to completion --- Follows direction and makes a significant contribution to the team --- Problem Solving: Analyzes problems of moderate scope from a variety of viewpoints --- Early adapter of new technology and processes, willingly considers new ideas & perspectives --- Takes initiative in proposing ideas, soliciting input, and optimizing solutions --- Lean-Agile mindset Considerable ability to understand and become familiar with the Lean Agile mindset --- Lean-Agile principles and practices (includes DevSecOps, Scurm, SAFe, and Kanban) NOTE: This position is on site in Dedham, MA it cannot be supported remotely. LI-Hybrid This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled. USD $117,500.00 - USD $126,500.00 /Yr.
