Develops and files quarterly rates, develops and enhances forecasting,
trend and pricing models, and monitors and reports on experience and
industry data. Performs multi-year projections, provides ad hoc analytics
in support of corporate and market strategies, and presents findings and
recommendations to Actuarial management. Works with other members of the
Actuarial department and other functional areas concerning forecasting,
trend development, and rate models. Collects and reviews data for major
deliverables such as rate filings, trend reports, monthly business updates,
reserves, and other ad hoc projects. Prepares calculations and analyses,
reviews, summarizes, and communicate results, and anticipates potential
issues or questions. Responds to changes in regulations and identifies
market issues that can impact actuarial work.
Education & Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in actuarial
science, mathematics, business or related field (willing to accept foreign
education equivalent) plus 2 years of experience providing actuarial
forecasting for the healthcare, life, property/casualty, or financial
services markets. Must also have passed at least three (3) examinations in
the Society of Actuaries exam series. Specific skills/other requirements –
must possess one year of experience in each the following three skills: (1)
Applying actuarial, underwriting, and financial principles within one of
the following markets: the healthcare, life, property/casualty, or
financial services; (2) Utilizing Microsoft Excel, including the ability to
use functions, pivot tables, and basic macro editing; and (3) Utilizing
data analysis software (such as SAS, SQL, or Microsoft Access), in order to
extract and manipulate large data sets.
