Job Overview
The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) seeks a proactive, self-starter to join the Investments team. The Analyst reports to the Investment Associate but will serve on a flat and dynamic team.

The Analyst's core work will be supporting the evaluation and management of venture investments in the most promising climate tech companies in Massachusetts.

MassCEC seeks a highly independent candidate with excellent time management and prioritization skills, and a desire to take on a wide range of tasks. This is an opportunity for a motivated candidate to take ownership of significant responsibilities and build on a diverse energy and venture capital skillset while developing deep relationships across the clean energy sector.

Job Duties:
The Analyst will gain valuable experience supporting a broad range of investment activities:

Diligence and Transaction Support : Conduct due diligence on new investments, including business plan evaluation, financial modeling, and technical assessment
Assist in the preparation of proposals to MasCEC's Executive Team and Board of Directors
Assist in the closing of transactions, including processing documentation

Investments Portfolio Support : Assist senior Investments staff with targeted initiatives to support the success of portfolio companies
Track industry trends for relevant sub-sectors
Continuously update and maintain performance metrics on portfolio companies;
Support deal/transaction processing for follow-on investments
Represent MassCEC at meetings, conferences, and working sessions

Administrative Support : Assist with administrative duties such as meeting notes, preparing agendas, preparing documents, information requests, and scheduling meetings
Lead the internal review process for investments through MassCEC's award management software platform
Provide guidance and training to MassCEC Fellows as needed and directed by senior staff

Position Qualifications:
Education:
Minimum undergraduate university degree; and
Background in relevant fields such as business, finance, sustainability, economics, engineering, or sciences.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
0-2 years of work experience
Internship, co-op, or entry-level experience in energy, stakeholder management, finance, or investments

The following skills are essential to the position:
Strong organizational capabilities and attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to obtain and review complex financial and technical information and clearly articulate conclusions and associated recommendations
Interest in climate tech and an aptitude to understand complex and new products, systems, innovations, and business concepts, as well as market opportunities and challenges

The ideal candidate will also demonstrate:
Ability to interact with senior-level decisionmakers with poise and discretion
Strong command of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Familiarity with Pitchbook and common CRM frameworks a plus
