COMPANY: THE SURGERY CENTER OF THE MERRIMACK VALLEYPOSITION:
ANESTHESIA/OR TECHLOCATION: Chelmsford, MAHOURS: Full-time, M-F,
7am-3:30pmJob Overview:The Anesthesia/OR Technician is an integral
member of the anesthesia patient care team. Their role is to assist
licensed anesthesiaproviders (Anesthesiologist and Certified
Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in providing safe, efficient, and
cost effective patient care. The AnesthesiaTechnician is
responsible for the daily coordination, preparation, andmaintenance
of anesthesia equipment, supplies, and medications required for the
administration of anesthesia. The Anesthesia Technician provides
support for routine surgical cases by assisting in the preparation
and maintenance of patient equipment and anesthesia delivery
systems before, during, and after anesthesia. He/she will perform
other related duties as needed to maintain department cost
containment, efficiency, as well as quality performance. Other
duties as assigned.Responsibilities and Duties:1. Actively works to
promote and maintain an organizational culture that enhances our
standing as the best place to work and receive care.2. Active
engagement in staff meetings, department meetings, in-services,
educational requirements, etc.3. Prepares and maintains the
anesthesia equipment and supplies within the facility. In addition,
prepares and maintains a safe patient care environment within the
OR suite.4. Performs calibration, quality control testing,
maintenance, safety checks and cleaning of anesthesia/patient care
equipment ensuring all equipment is in safe working order.
Accurately records results and maintains appropriate logs of
testing, calibrations, etc.5. Performs troubleshooting of
non-functioning anesthesia equipment/machines.6. Displays knowledge
of the care and handling of instruments, supplies, and equipment.7.
Assists in the maintenance of equipment and instrumentation to
facilitate durability and availability for future procedures.8.
Assists the Anesthesiologist with intubation procedures. Identifies
and prepares the various types of intubation equipment, as well as
any special equipment andsupplies, necessary for difficult
intubations. Correctly applies cricoid pressure, when requested, to
facilitate endotracheal tube placement.9. Demonstrates knowledge of
The Surgery Centers current policies and procedures.10.
Demonstrates proficiency in the use of emergency equipment and is
knowledgeable in the appropriate emergency protocols.11.
Demonstrates knowledge of safe handling, storage, and usage of
cylinder gases. Understands usage of common anesthetic gases.12.
Demonstrates understanding of different types of and the
indications for local, monitored anesthesia care (MAC), regional
and general anesthesia.13. Assists with stripping, cleaning, and
setting up the OR suite for surgical cases with efficiency and
speed.14. Assists with OR flow as required.15. Contributes to
meeting the fluctuating staffing needs of the department as
evidenced by flexibility in own assignment and work schedule.16.
Demonstrates initiative and collaborates professionally with
caregivers in/out of the OR suite.17. Promotes teamwork by
assisting with the precepting of new caregivers.18. Identifies
areas of conflict, intervenes effectively, or seeks assistance in
conflict resolution.Qualifications: Education Qualifications: High
School Diploma or equivalent required. Certification (CAT) is
preferred. Minimum of one (1) year work experience as an Anesthesia
Technician is preferred. Experience in Ambulatory Surgery or
Outpatient Surgery preferred. Great team player Strong attention to
detail Organizational skills Ability to remain calm under pressure
Patience Strong communication skills Inherent desire to go above
and beyondCertifications: Currently holds American Heart
Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS)
or AHA approved equivalent (or obtains within three (3) monthsof
hire).Physical Abilities: Lift 10 lbs. box overhead. Lift and carry
15 lbs. Push/pull 20 lbs. cart. Lift and carry 25-35 lbs. Push/pull
50-100 lbs. (ie. empty bed, stretcher) Lift and carry 40-50 lbs.
Push/pull +/- 150-200 lbs. (Patients on bed, stretcher), Lateral
transfer 150-200 lbs. (ie. Patient) Lift over 50 lbs. Carry 80 lbs.
a distance of 30 feet. Push/pull > 200 lbs. (ie.Patients on bed,
