Job Description Plant Engineering Manager for the operation and maintenance of infrastructure and services supporting company-s Lexington and Burlington Massachusetts- Buildings. Lexington MA Two Forbes Road The Lexington site includes one building totaling approximately 97,000 square feet of space. The first floor is 62,000 square feet consist of specialty labs, clean rooms, cafeteria and mechanical support spaces. The 2 nd Floor footprint is 35,000 square feet of offices, conference room housing functional and engineering support staff. The Lexington site is a triple net lease site and BAE SYSTEMS is the sole tenant of this building. The Lexington site currently houses approximately 130 - 150 employees Infrastructure Systems and Operations include water cooled chillers, open cell cooling towers, Split DX Air Handling Systems, Clean Dry Air Systems, DI Water Operations, Vacuum, Hazardous Gas Detection System, Elevators, Fire Alarm and Electrical Distribution including a 225 KVA Uninterrupted Power Supply main power 13,800v, Stand by powers diesel generators 500 kW, 11,000 gallon LN2 storage. Burlington MA. 600 and 800 District Ave The Burlington site consist of two separate buildings. Building 600 District Ave at 102,000 square feet and Building 800 District Ave third floor at approximately 50,000 square feet both housing offices, conference rooms, and closed area consisting of computer labs and server space. The Burlington site is a full service lease site with multiple tenants. BAE System occupancy is approximately 225-250 employees. Primary Responsibilities Ensure facility, infrastructure, grounds and parking area are maintained in a safe and best possible state of repair to ensure a sustained operation 24/7/365. Manage, select, supervise, counsel, train and evaluate exempt professional and non-exempt personnel in accordance with company policies. Staff includes 11 highly skilled non-exempt trades and admin support, and one exempt supervisor. Manage expense and capital budgets to ensure cost take out goals and project objectives are met. Develop Request for Capital RCE budget estimates for construction, renovation and upgrade to Facilities and grounds. Review construction plans and specifications with the Facility Engineering and Procurement Departments. Evaluate capabilities, qualifications, techniques and performance of Company renovation projects. Provide technical assistance in the fields of Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Environmental Engineering disciplines. Manage local Sustainability Initiative plans, goals and objectives, to ensure strategy alignment with company focus. Ensure compliance of all federal, state and local regulations; and in the case of SHE regulations, ensure compliance with SHE Department interpretations. Follow all Company/Corporate Management Directives and Practices. Establish organizational policies for a major segment of the company. Interpret, execute, and recommend modifications to company-wide policies. Receive limited direction and manage with significant discretion and with independent judgment in taking action and making decisions related to managing assigned department. Results are reviewed against goals. Provide department interface and extensive contact with the Site Executive(s), Site Leadership, Department Managers, Lab Managers, and other key building occupant contacts. Provide leadership as site Business Continuity Coordinator and Incident Commander for scenario-s highlighted in the Emergency Response/Incident Management Plan. Provide department representation for vendor and possibly regulatory agency interface as required and Landlords and Real estate agencies when specifically assigned. Assist in developing Department budgets and manage department budgets. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Working conditions include light to medium lifting of equipment. Expect normal office environment and may work extended hours or weekends. . Typical Education & Experience Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education Exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of duties outlined above. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel, customers and suppliers. Utilize computer skills to prepare appropriate reports and documents. Make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Analyze, evaluate, develop and implement processes and systems within budget and adhere to time requirements and schedule. Design and develop improvements using state-of-the-art technology, principles, theories and concepts.
